China's four great aromatics

Chén, Tán, Lóng, Shè

Season 7 brings together agarwood, sandalwood, ambergris and musk, the four great aromatics of Chinese incense culture. Each scent was made first as an incense coil, then as a perfume, retelling traditional incense blending with modern perfumery.

Lóng

The tide rises, the stone cracks.

The treasure scent. Lóng draws on the depth of the ocean to bring back the feel of ambergris: like a rock after the waves break, salty, with warmth coming through, and deep as the legend of ambergris smoke that never scatters.

Tán

Warm sandalwood burns the colour of dawn.

The Zen scent. Sandalwood at its core: calm, warm and rich, quietly solemn, like one strike of a temple bell that brings the mind back to stillness.

Chén

One breath of agarwood, and every thought falls quiet.

The imperial scent. The spirit of agarwood: clear, smooth and far-reaching, with smoke that never turns harsh.

Shè

A whisper in a dream.

The delicate scent. Soft musk on the skin, and you cannot tell if it is body warmth or longing. Lively and light, like a spirit in the woods leaping as if in a dream.

An incense coil in every set

The same scent through smoke and through skin.

Every parfum comes with the incense coil that inspired it, so you can feel the scent through two different media.

A touch of gold in coral red

The art of the fragrance ritual

Warm and smooth, quiet on the outside, strong within. Red is the Chinese colour of festivals and blessings, coral has been a treasure since ancient times, and gold stands for nobility and permanence.
