- Lay a similar garment flat without stretching it.
- Chest or bust: measure across below the armholes. Double this only when comparing with a full chest circumference. A half-chest figure is the flat width.
- Waist and hip: measure straight across, then double when the chart gives a full circumference. For elastic waists, compare the relaxed and stretched range.
- Length: measure a top from the shoulder beside the neck to the hem, trousers from waistband to hem, and skirts from waist to hem.

Cut for the riding position
Short in front, longer at the back.
The fleece sits at the front for warmth, and the back has a vent for airflow. The body is short and the sleeves long. The raglan seams sit further forward than usual, so the jacket lies flat when you reach for the bars, with less bunching at the chest and less pull across the back.
