Never leave a burning candle out of sight. Use a heat-proof base, away from drafts and anything flammable. Keep the dust cover on when not in use.

Plants of the Eastern landscape, in white porcelain

To Summer made its first candle in April 2020: plant scents from the mountains and rivers of the East, held in an unglazed white porcelain cup, with an oak wick that makes you feel you are sitting in the woods.

Eastern botanical scents

Choose your scent.

  1. Kunlun Snow

Bergamot, cypress, cedarwood, juniper berry, geranium

Snow on the equator: a pine forest, and the feeling of a hug from an old friend.

  2. Summer Palace Osmanthus

    Osmanthus absolute, bergamot

Sweet, mellow golden osmanthus, like the hundred-year-old trees of the Summer Palace in autumn.

  3. Rambler Rose

Rose, Chinese red mandarin, sweet orange

Rambling roses, near and far, like walking through the clouds.

  4. Mirror Lake

Alpine blue eucalyptus, Chinese cedarwood, Chinese mint

A clear day by a green mountain lake, birds skimming the water.

  5. Sencha

    Black tea absolute, cedarwood, lemon

Snow from plum blossoms, boiled for tea.

An American oak wick

A steady flame and a soft crackle.

The oak has an even grain, so it burns steadily, with a soft sound like waves on sand.

Handmade Ding-style porcelain

A craft that began in the Song dynasty.

The cups are white porcelain in the style of Ding ware, made and fired by craftsmen with decades of experience. Lit, the cup glows like a quiet night light.
